Grounding is a technique used to reduce anxiety. Researchers have developed a very specific way of using grounding to help combat insomnia. The technique has shown a lot of success. Start by going through each of your 5 senses – touch, sight, smell, hearing and taste. In your head identify 5 things you feel right now. Then 5 things you see, 5 things you smell, 5 things you hear and 5 tastes in your mouth. Then repeat for all five senses identifying 4 things. Than again with 3 things, 2 things, 1 thing. Then fall asleep!
