Free Therapy! Stacy Cohen to Intern at Awen Therapy

I’m happy to announce that Stacy Cohen is joining Awen Therapy for her internship. Stacy is finishing her Master’s Degree in Counseling at UW Whitewater. She will be available to provide free therapy services until May of 2016. Be sure to take advantage of this great opportunity.

Here’s more about Stacy in her own words:

I am excited to be completing my counseling internship at Awen therapy. I have been a medical Speech Language Pathologist for over 20 years and am in the process of completing a Master’s of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.

I have a particular interest in working with individuals, partnerships and families undergoing change and transition. Areas of focus include: life transitions, re-establishing healthy interactions, loss/grief, and post-illness intimacy. I have an expertise in communication and my years of working in medical settings have allowed me to gain insight into the unique needs of those dealing with medical issues.

I am also in the process of a life transition to a new career and am a parent to teens so I am very familiar with the challenges that come with changes to a family system.

I believe that healthy work happens in the context of a trusting relationship between the client and therapist. I have a systems world-view and employ evidenced-based interventions to support clients to achieve their desired outcomes. I am a certified PREPARE/ENRICH facilitator and enjoy helping couples improve communication and conflict-resolution skills.

I am available to work with clients Tuesdays 8 – 2 and all day Wednesdays.
